Weekly Club Meeting Information

We meet every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EST at the Land o’ Lakes Curling Club, 301 St. Joseph St., Tweed Ontario. The meeting is preceded by a social hour and dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Kiwanis Club of Tweed

On Thursday March 12, 2020 Ed Hunt and Mo Gunning made a presentation to the Club about the history and community giving activities of the ‘Family Feud’ sports tournaments. The first ‘Feud’ was held 36 years ago, involving 6 local hockey families. The following year, a slo-pitch event was added. Now there are many more teams (currently about 24), and family members travel from as far away as Montreal and California to join in the fun each spring (hockey) and fall (ball). In the early years, the funds raised went toward improvements at the fair grounds; but since its inception, over $70,000 has been donated to a variety of organizations and initiatives (too numerous to mention all, but these include the ‘White Building', pool, splashpad, soccer field, netting at the Stoco ball diamonds, Stoco arena, a defibrillator and UV water system at the Marble Arts Centre). Recently, the Family Feud generously donated $5,000 to the Club’s Accessible Playground Project. We thank the Feud organizers and all the families for not only providing a lot of fun and friendly competition, but making our community a better place to live! We presented Ed and Mo with certificates of appreciation for the Feud's hard work and contribution to the Playground Project, and purchased bed kits from Sleeping Children Around the World in their names. #tweedkiwanis #kidsneedkiwanis #tweedontario ... Lots of work but also lots of fun and memories for all the families involved . Thanks to Mo and Ed for keeping it going ! The Community is the winner with donations given from the events .
