What is Kiwanis?
Here is a quick video that explains what Kiwanis is.
On March 5, the Club presented a substantial donation to the Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation to cover the costs of the installation of 4 additional sound field amplification systems in classrooms at Tweed Elementary School . A total of 10 classrooms will now be equipped with this technology. Representatives from all three organizations are pictured here following a demonstration of the technology in a classroom.
This was a follow-up to a January presentation by representatives from the Foundation about their 'Have You Heard' campaign and why it is so important to young learners. The initiative will equip local classrooms with sound field amplification systems that distribute a teacher’s voice evenly throughout the classroom, ensuring that every student—no matter where they sit—can hear instruction clearly.
Just over two weeks ago, we hosted our annual Kiwanis Club of Tweed Community Breakfast/Bake Sale/Food Drive. The weather cooperated this year, and we managed to have a large amount of fun serving our community. Many thanks to those who attended (almost 250!). A team of almost 40 volunteered with set-up, hosting, cooking, cleaning (including a number of students and 'Friends of Kiwanis', a legion of generous bakers, as well as our members) – we really appreciate you all... Jim Pedersen was a master organizer again this year, and thanks to Terri Ward and Don DeGenova for heading up the bake sale. Honourable mention to our suppliers at Tom’s Independent and Palmateer’s Butchers, and a big shout out to Darryl Drain /Drain Poultry Farm for once again donating the eggs! We also collected 60 pounds of food donations for the Food Bank. This event raises funds to support our various activities in the community. #TweedKiwanis#KidsNeedKiwanis... See MoreSee Less
